Challenge / Purpose

To set up the tomograph, the environment, and the preparation room to make them accessible, warm and friendly for the boys and girls that must go through an examination, with the aim to reduce the levels of anguish, anxiety and fear they may experience and contribute to avoid sedation or anesthesia.

Strategy

To define what story to tell, informal surveys were carried out to girls and boys who are patients of the hospital, looking for suggestions regarding how they would like to image the tomograph and the ward. One of the recurrent associations was the space machine to travel the universe. In order to make that immense and far universe at their hand, we linked it to an activity strongly promoted at the hospital: the books for children. In that way, thanks to the magic of literature, the world and its confines become the friendly and inspiring setting to live a fascinating adventure.
